AWS provides new training and certification guidance for End User Computing

Matt Barclay

AWS has added seven free digital training courses for End User Computing (EUC) services, together with a new guide that highlights how these courses can help in targeting a variety of AWS certifications.

EUC services are designed to meet the changing needs of today’s increasingly remote workforce, enabling teams to securely access the desktops, applications and data they need to get their jobs done. Key components include Amazon Workspaces and Amazon AppStream 2.0.

The new EUC courses are intended for desktop or virtual desktop infrastructure managers and IT administrators with various levels of expertise, and technical professionals interested in cloud-based virtualisation.

The aim is to provide guidance on how to administer, optimise, and troubleshoot cloud-based desktops and applications through the use of these interactive, self-paced courses that include presentations, videos and quizzes.

The seven free new courses are:

Amazon WorkSpaces Deep Dive:

  • Resources and Tools to Scale Amazon WorkSpaces’ - explores when and how to use the tools needed for working with Amazon WorkSpaces
  • Troubleshooting Amazon WorkSpaces’ - covers best practices and explanations for troubleshooting common issues
  • Optimize Costs for Amazon WorkSpaces’ - describes best practices for cost optimization

Amazon AppStream 2.0 Primer:

  • Administer and Activate Persistent Storage’ - describes how to enable persistent storage across sessions through application configuration
  • ‘Managing End User Access’ - explores best practices for choosing, configuring and supporting end user access
  • Using Active Directory’ - covers the process for authenticating Amazon AppStream 2.0 streaming instances to Microsoft Active Directory domains
  • Monitoring and Reporting’ - describes how to optimise your data analytics with Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon Athena and Amazon QuickSight

The new courses have been added to four other free digital training offerings that already exist in the EUC portfolio. These include ‘Introduction to End User Computing Services’ and ‘Amazon Workspaces Primer’.

And there’s further good news if you’re looking to move into the End User Computing field, or you’re already involved in implementing or managing EUC services, as the new ‘AWS Certification Guide for End User Computing ’ will be invaluable in mapping out your next career steps.

The guide explores how EUC training and hands-on experience can help you prepare to earn an industry-recognised AWS certification that showcases your AWS Cloud skills.

So for example, if you are currently involved in choosing AWS EUC solutions, then you should consider the ‘Introduction to End User Computing Services’ free training course mentioned above. This can act as the platform for moving on to achieving the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification.

This certification, in turn, will provide you with the skills needed for a Cloud IT Administrator role that would see you helping senior engineers to choose the most scalable, reliable and effective cloud services.

The key is to select the appropriate free EUC course from the list available, complete the training and earn an AWS EUC Training certificate. From here, you can use the new guide to identify the relevant AWS certification that most closely matches your career aspirations. Good luck!
