VMware releases four new courses
- Date: 14 March, 2019
VMware recently announced four new courses that focus on acquiring the knowledge and skills in the field of various VMware technologies. What are these new VMware courses all about, which topics are covered in these training courses? Please find below the letter details or these courses.
VMVSANPO - VMware vSAN: Production Operations (V6.7)
A two-day course that focuses on building skills in configuring and performing common administrator and end-user tasks with VMware vSAN 6.7. Key objectives include describing vSAN host operations, discussing vSAN networking requirements, defining the tasks involved in hardware replacement in a vSAN cluster, performing vSAN cluster scale-out and scale-up operations, and defining the tasks required for updating and upgrading vSAN.
The prerequisites for the course are an understanding of the concepts presented in the vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage (V6.x) course and storage administration experience with block or file storage devices.
VMVROMICM - VMware vRealize Operations: Install, Configure, Manage (V7)
VMware vRealize Operations: Install, Configure, Manage (V7) is a five-day course, designed for experienced VMware vSphere users, that covers the use of VMware vRealize Operations as a forensic and predictive tool. It is based on VMware ESXi 6.7, VMware vCenter Server 6.7 and vRealize Operations 7.0. The course objectives include identifying the features and benefits of vRealize Operations, deploying vRealize Operations, using interface features to assess and troubleshoot operational issues, recognising how to use vRealize Operations components to build scalability and availability, and using Endpoint Operations Management to monitor operating systems and applications.
For this course, you should have system administration experience with vSphere deployments, or completion of either the vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage (V6x) or the vSphere: Optimize and Scale (V6x) courses.
VMVSAN - vSAN: Deploy and Manage (V6.7)
This is a three-day course that focuses on deploying and managing a software-defined storage solution with VMware vSAN 6.7. The aim is to learn how vSAN functions as an important component in the VMware software-defined data centre. Key objectives include describing the vSAN architecture, identifying vSAN features and use cases, configuring vSAN networking components, deploying virtual machines on a vSAN data store and performing ongoing vSAN management tasks.
The prerequisites are either storage administration experience on block or file storage devices, or an understanding of the concepts covered in the vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage (V6x) course.
VMRIDM - VMware vRealize Log Insight: Deploy and Manage (V4.7)
A two-day course covering the deployment use and management of VMware vRealize Log Insight. This includes learning about the configuration and use of vRealize Log Insight to collect and manage logs from a variety of VMware and third-party products. The key objectives include describing how to install, configure and use vRealize Log Insight to collect and analyse logs in order to better manage and monitor systems, explaining how vRealize Log Insight can be integrated with other solutions for monitoring, troubleshooting and securing a data centre, and describing vRealize Log Insight architecture and use cases.
For this course, the requirements are completion of either the vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage (V6x) or the vSphere: Fast Track (V6x) courses.
VMware's new naming convention
VMware is now beginning to roll out its new Certified Professionals certifications for 2019. These will all follow the new naming approach that uses the year to indicate when the certification is earned, for example VCP-DCV 2019. A key benefit of this new certification name is that it will make it easier for certification holders and potential employers to immediately identify how current a holder’s certification is. Meanwhile, the roll-out of the new VCAP Design certifications commenced on 1 March 2019, with the VCAP Deploy certifications following on 1 May 2019.
